MT BREWERY has pledged to donate beer sales revenue from its Australia Day celebrations to Queensland’s flood relief effort.
The Mount Tamborine company’s event will feature live entertainment and fundraising activities with all sales of its popular Rainforest Lager going straight to the Premier’s Flood Appeal.
Co-owner Andre Morris also hopes additional pledges and donations come from guests wishing to give back.
“The devastation of the Queensland floods has affected so many. This is our own backyard and we wanted to create a fun day for the whole family, so we can come together and unite as Australians,” he says.
“Our new Rainforest Lager is our most popular beer and for every beer $5 beer purchased, we will donate 100 per cent back to the appeal. We will also have a host of raffles and prizes for all to be involved or if people would like to donate, they are more than welcome.
“We look forward to hosting an exciting fun event that will give us the opportunity to help assist with the effects of this devastating natural disaster.”
Surfers Paradise-Broadbeach Chamber of Commerce, Broadbeach Alliance and the Australian Timeshare and Holiday Ownership Council (ATHOC) are also hosting event to raise funds for flood victims.
Tonight Broadbeach will be showcasing more than 100 performers with all of the artists donating their time for free in support of the appeal. A huge concert in Kurrawa Park is also taking place on Saturday with donations being collected on the day going towards the appeal.
Broadbeach Alliance has announced that the 10 Anniversary of the Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival in May will also be raising funds for the appeal.
ATHOC have put their weight behind the flood relief effort by organising coaches to take up to 100 volunteers to Goodna on Sunday January 23.
"What's important to remember is that the clean-up will take months so it's important over the next few weeks to maintain the community momentum from the past weekend to help those still in need," says general manager Laura Younger.
