Marriott Hotel’s signature restaurant Critique has been awarded Best Informal Seafood Restaurant in South East Queensland.
More than 230 eateries and caterers were judged in various categories at the prestigious Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS Awards for Excellence 2014.
Marriott Australia’s multi property vice president and general manager of the Surfers Paradise branch Neeraj Chadha says the team is thrilled about the significant award.
“All of our efforts pay off when our guests tell us how much they enjoy the extensive selection of fresh and locally sourced seafood which is available in abundance on our popular buffet” says Chadha.
The Surfers Paradise resort’s food and beverage director Andrew Wright says the team stays ahead of trends and updates the menu using seasonal produce.
“Right now we are serving prawns from the local trawlers and Mooloolaba, spanner crab from the Sunshine Coast and scallops from Hervey Bay,” says Wright.
"Our oysters come daily from Sydney and Northern New South Wales, Balmain bugs are sourced direct from local trawlers and our salmon is Tasmanian."
The winners were chosen by trained judges who visited the venues anonymously and scored the entire dining experience.
Restaurant & Catering CEO John Hart says the winners have reason to be proud, as this is one of the system’s more objective awards in the business.
“It looks at the entire dining experience rather than a single food or service dimension,” says Hart.
Critique will now compete at a national level against other regional winners at the end of October.
