Shark Tank sharks will shine at Gold Coast Way Ahead

Shark Tank sharks will shine at Gold Coast Way Ahead

Some of the country's most successful investors, thought leaders and innovators will steal the spotlight at Gold Coast Business Week 2019.

Almost every local entrepreneur worth their salt will be involved during the week either as panellists, VIPs, guest speakers, event hosts or attendees.

Not least of which is a trio of sharks who are among Australia's most famous businesspeople.

Janine Allis, Steve Baxter and Dr Glen Richards will be on the panel at 'Way Ahead', the signature event of Gold Coast Business Week to be held on Friday 12 July.

Most will know Allis, Baxter and Dr Richards as three of the investors or 'sharks' on Channel 10's former program Shark Tank.

But their business expertise extends far beyond the small screen.

Allis has grown the Boost juice and smoothie empire from her kitchen bench into an international success story.

Where many entrepreneurs might have settled with one company, Allis went the extra mile to create other successful franchises including Salsa's Fresh Mex Grill, Betty's Burgers and CIBO Espresso.

At Way Ahead Allis will share insights from her journey as a truly self-made businesswoman.

When it comes to investing in and growing successful tech companies, it's hard to think of any entrepreneurs who have the edge on Steve Baxter.

Baxter's first ASX success story was PIPE Networks, a provider of wholesale telecoms infrastructure which he co-founded with Bevan Slattery and later sold to TPG Group for $373 million.

Since then he has become an investor in early-stage startups through his company Transition Level Investments. He also created Brisbane's popular tech startup hub River City Labs.

In 2018 Baxter was appointed Queensland's Chief Entrepreneur. At Way Ahead, he will be sharing key messages from his wealth of experience in the Queensland business landscape.

It takes a special kind of grit to list and manage companies on the ASX, which is something Dr Glen Richards knows firsthand.

Dr Richards got his start as a veterinary physician and in 1994 he purchased the Currajong Veterinary Hospital in Townsville which became the foundations for Greencross (ASX: GXL), Australia's largest pet care company.

His career has since been studded with high-profile appointments including his current roles as chairman of People Infrastructure (ASX: PPE), director of Naturo Technologies, Chairman of Healthia and several others.

At Way Ahead, Dr Richards will be sharing his insights as one of Australia's most prominent business leaders.

The shark trio will be joined at Way Ahead by renowned futurist Chris Riddell.

The four will discuss several hot topics including emerging business trends, artificial intelligence and marketing to today's consumer.

It is truly an event not to be missed.
