The Darling to officially open ahead of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games

After three years of construction, a date has finally been announced for the opening of The Star Gold Coast's new hotel, The Darling, which will open its doors on March 22 ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

Located at the front of the Broadbeach Island property, the new 17-storey hotel forms the centrepiece of The Star Gold Coast's landmark transformation.

The Darling is a luxury accommodation with with each level of the building featuring just seven suites, as well as a northern Penthouse Suite and a southern Penthouse Deluxe Suite.

The building features premium resort facilities and gaming amenities as well as a rooftop restaurant and bar with a view called Nineteen at The Star.

The Star Entertainment Group managing director Queensland Geoff Hogg says the lead up to unveil the hotel, which has been three years in the making, is an incredibly exciting time.

"The Darling positions The Star Gold Coast at the premium end of the market and ensure the Gold Coast has an even more compelling value proposition as we seek to compete on a global scale for domestic and international visitors," says Hogg.

"We're also looking forward later this month to opening online bookings for stays at The Darling post the Commonwealth Games."

Designed by internationally renowned architects Steelman Partners, the luxury suites were delivered by multi-disciplinary firm DBI Design and Australian construction company Probuild.

In addition to luxury finishes, furniture, and decor, guests will also enjoy state-of-the-art in-room technology with smart TVs, a fully-integrated Bose sound system, USB ports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity, and revolutionary "zone control" which allows guests to customise lighting, temperature, and service preferences.

At the top of the hotel, The Darling has a world-class rooftop restaurant and bar called Nineteen at The Star which wraps around a gravity-defying infinity pool.

Nineteen at The Star was created in collaboration with The Star Gold Coast and acclaimed Gold Coast restaurateur Simon Gloftis and entertainment guru Billy Cross.

The existing redevelopment at The Star Gold Coast and the build of The Darling delivered 600 new construction roles to the Gold Coast.
