The Wyndham hotels group is preparing to open its latest property on the Gold Coast in October as the global hospitality group occupies the entire first tower of the proposed $3.8 billion Imperial Square development at Southport.

TRYP by Wyndham Southport Gold Coast is the second property for Wyndham on the Gold Coast after stepping into the market at Surfers Paradise in 2010.

The opening of the Southport property also extends Wyndham’s relationship with Imperial Square developer Azzura Investments, which originally developed the Surfers Paradise property for the hotel giant at the height of the global financial crisis.

TRYP by Wyndham Southport Gold Coast is a 4.5-star hotel comprising 225 self-contained suites occupying the first stage of Imperial Square’s four-tower master plan.

The building comprises a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and two four-bedroom penthouses which will be managed by Wyndham as part of its latest hotel offering on the Gold Coast.

Azzura Investments, a Gold Coast company founded and led by Robert Badalotti, completed construction of the tower this year.

The developer’s master plan for the 1.43ha site, which is bounded by Ferry Road, Meron Street and Gillian Lane, comprises four towers including The Majesty, which will rise 108 levels and become Australia’s tallest residential building.

“As Southport CBD’s marquee development, Imperial Square will offer a new level of sophistication and unique experiences and TRYP by Wyndham will play a pivotal role in enhancing this distinction for residents and visitors alike and contribute to the vibrant, cosmopolitan atmosphere we envision for this landmark project,” says Badalotti.

The new hotel will feature a range of premium amenities, including a rooftop infinity pool, a luxury day spa and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.

The property will also introduce an alfresco dining venue with the 100-seat Amore Ristoranteoffering Italian and Mediterranean cuisine.

The Wyndham property also has multiple function and meeting facilities including the rooftop Imperial Lounge, cocktail function space by the rooftop infinity pool and a private dining room, known as the Regal Lounge.

Wyndham, which made its market debut to Australia at Surfers Paradise in 2010, says the Southport property will lift the guest experience for the brand on the Gold Coast.

“Our hotel will set new standards for accommodation on the Gold Coast, offering an unparalleled blend of style and convenience,” says Daniel Sprange, general manager of TRYP by Wyndham Southport Gold Coast.

“We look forward to becoming a key part of this dynamic new development and contributing to the thriving community at Imperial Square.”

Azzura Investments last year gained development approval for the second stage of Imperial Square – the $650 million Monarch Place.

The 40-level tower, which will comprise 323 luxury apartments, will include an exclusive vertical village for retirees with apartments proving popular among downsizers.

Monarch Place also will introduce a range of retail and commercial tenancies, including a large tavern on level six, to the development.

The ground level and first floor will incorporate a food and dining offering with an up-scale food hall/social dining hall, while level two will be dedicated to the Monarch Place Medical Suites Precinct which will offer a range of strata-titled specialist medical suites.

Azzura Investments has previously indicated it plans to start construction of Monarch Tower once construction has been finalised on the Wyndham project.
