$12 MILLION GOLF CLUB FOR SANCTUARY COVE

$12 MILLION GOLF CLUB FOR SANCTUARY COVE

SANCTUARY Cove has taken the wraps of its $12 million golf clubhouse as part of a planned $50 million renewal.

The club sits atop a waterfront parcel on The Pines championship golf course. Sanctuary Cove is now in the unique position of having a world class golf club to complement the existing country clubhouse which has served members since the inception of the resort 21 years ago.

Executive general manager of Mulpha Sanctuary Cove (Developments) Pty Limited Alison Quinn, says the completion of the golf clubhouse adds another timely dimension to Sanctuary Cove’s unrivalled lifestyle facilities and infrastructure.

“The new clubhouse will take the Sanctuary Cove golfing experience to unseen levels, and put it among the finest and most elite in the world,” says Quinn.

The new clubhouse is the largest of the three construction projects to be executed as part of the transfer of ownership of the Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club to its members in early 2007. Two prospectuses subsequently raised more than $12 million to fund the clubhouse.

The clubhouse was designed by architects Cox Rayner and include an undulating floating roof system that mimics the unique course layout of The Pines. Full height, glazed glass walls provide natural lighting and uninterrupted views while the clubhouse’s two main pavilions feature an exterior rock wall that blend with the environment and create a building form that is fully integrated with its surroundings.

Club president Dr Greg Herring, says the new clubhouse will provide a private sanctuary for members while adding to the exclusive appeal of membership at The Pines.

“Having the unique opportunity to create a member only clubhouse in addition to the prior facilities allowed for the creation of a country club unlike any other in the country,” says Dr Herring.

“This is truly a first-of-its-kind clubhouse for Australia and rivals the luxurious facilities on offer at the world’s most prestigious courses in Europe, Asia and the United States.”

The clubhouse comprises two levels, with the upper floor containing lobby, registration/reception, administration area, the Spike Bar with capacity for 150 guests, a 120-seat restaurant, terrace, restrooms and kitchen.

The Spike Bar, or the 19th, will provide expansive views of the driving range, putting green, mountains and The Pines’ 18th hole. Buggy parking will be available for 40-50 buggies with car parking for 80 vehicles.
