Dirty Clean Food scores Coles Local distribution deal in Western Australia

Wide Open Agriculture (ASX: WOA) brand Dirty Clean Food has today announced its plant-based range will be stocked in West Australian Coles Local stores once the supermarket’s small format store brand hits Perth.

Dirty Clean Food expects between eight to 12 of its products will be sold at local Coles Local stores across multiple categories once the first of the small format stores opens, planned for Angelo Street in South Perth.

The ranging will feature plant-based products, which will be made available at the smaller, local supermarkets - designed specifically to meet the needs of the community.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to work directly with the Coles Group as part of the first Coles Local location in Western Australia,” Dirty Clean Food CEO Jay Albany said.

“Working directly with Coles is an important milestone for Dirty Clean Food and a significant step forward in our strategy to create and lead a new category of regenerative food.

“We are honoured to begin our relationship with Coles by participating in the expansion of this innovative concept to Western Australia.”

Coles Group (ASX: COL) first announced its intention to expand the Coles Local concept into WA on 18 August, 2022, building on the 16 stores across the East coast, including the most recent additions in Brighton (VIC), Birkenhead Point (NSW), and the Brisbane CBD.

“The Coles Local team has been a pleasure to work with,” Dirty Clean Food general manager Sophie Lanyon said.

“It’s clear their commitment is to high quality local produce, sustainability and supporting our mission to make it easier than it’s ever been to access regenerative produce.”

The deal comes nine months after WOA raised $22 million to support its transition into plant-based food manufacturing, building on its position as a regenerative grower of oats and lupins.

At the time, the company said it would use the proceeds to build a proprietary facility, increase its capability at its existing plant-based protein facility, and develop a strategy to support sales of oat milk and new product lines as part of distribution deals in Singapore and with Woolworths (ASX: WOW).
