Brisbane-based e-scooter and e-motorbike company Benzina Zero has supercharged its ties with Nasdaq-listed clean technology innovator Beam Global through a new partnership that opens up their respective sales channels to each other and primes them both for a bigger slice of a global market worth an estimated US$61 billion.

The partnership comes just two months after Beam Global announced the launch of its BeamWell water desalination and e-mobility delivery system which uses Benzina Zero electric scooters.

“This is an important day for both Benzina Zero and Beam Global,” says Benzina Zero’s co-CEO Joe D’Ercole.

“We’ve agreed to open new sales channels internationally by featuring each other’s products in sales efforts which includes Beam Global bundling our e-mobility solutions with products BeamBike and BeamWell.”

Under the latest partnership agreement, Beam Global is planning to integrate Benzina Zero e-mopeds, e-scooters and e-bikes in its product bundles globally. Benzina Zero will also market Beam Global’s products in Australia and Italy.

“The other exciting aspect of the partnership is BeamWell’s introduction to their existing customers and prospects globally, particularly in Africa and the Middle East where the need for highly resilient and sustainable mobility solutions is growing rapidly,” says D’Ercole.

The BeamWell system, a transportable water desalination and delivery platform, is designed to provide clean water and renewable electricity in crisis zones and remote areas and includes four Benzina Zero electric scooter models to distribute food, water and medications.

The BeamBike product is a dedicated charging station for e-bike owners who want a secure location to park, lock and charge their ride, without the risks of charging indoors.

Benzina co-CEO Ben Silver, who founded the e-scooter company with D’Ercole, says the combination of products through the partnership creates an all-in-one solution for sustainable transport and resource access.

“We believe there are significant opportunities for both businesses globally including Australia, particularly with our abundant sunshine which means the desalination and charging stations can be easily deployed to cities as well as regional and off-grid remote areas including indigenous communities,” says Silver.

“This partnership will provide cost-effective transport solutions for a range of purposes including small fleet operators as well as tourism businesses.”

Benzina Zero has developed a range of e-scooters, e-mopeds, e-bikes and e-motorcycles with the company well established in Europe and Australia where its products are used by customers such as Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut and Australia Post.

“With less than 100 parts on our bikes, there is no servicing issue because there is no bespoke tooling or test equipment required,” says Silver.

“A crucial aspect of our product enables operators to continue delivering life-saving supplies for years to come and when combined with Beam’s off-grid charging infrastructure, we solve the lack of electricity problem too.

“This partnership represents a significant step forward in addressing mobility and ongoing global environmental challenges and presents exciting new opportunities for both our businesses.”

According to Beam Global’s CEO Desmond Wheatley, the partnership with Benzina Zero is a “step forward in addressing the unique challenges of off-grid charging in Australia while also expanding its reach into the European market”.

“Benzina Zero’s deep understanding of local needs and strong presence in both Australia and Italy make them an ideal partner to bring our innovative charging solutions to a wider audience,” says Wheatley.

“We are already including their e-mobility solutions in several meaningful opportunities which we are advancing in Europe and Africa.

“Together, we are creating sustainable solutions that empower essential services and open new possibilities in the most demanding environments.

“This collaboration underscores Beam Global’s commitment to exploring creative business opportunities and finding new ways to increase sales without added overhead costs.”

According to Fortune Business Insights, sales of e-bikes in Europe have already surpassed traditional pedal bikes with the global electric bike and scooter market valued at US$61.3 billion in 2023.
