Two Australian competitors have come together on a mission to tackle single-use plastics.
Little Green Panda and Stroh, both manufacturers of compostable, plant-based straws, have entered a joint venture to lead the plastic-free revolution.
Manon Beauchamp-Tardieu's (pictured below, centre) Little Green Panda and Teresa Aylott's (pictured below, left) Stroh have sold a combined 1.3 million wheat stem straws to seven countries, with a growth rate of 250 per cent in monthly sales.
"We are so excited to bring together our knowledge, resources, established relationships and most importantly passion to tackle the pervasive problem of single-use plastics within the retail and hospitality industries," says Beauchamp-Tardieu.
"We believe our business is more than just selling sustainable straws, we are driving a movement to reduce waste."
Both Stroh and Little Green Panda's straws are made predominantly from wheat stems, largely considered an agricultural waste product, but has been transformed into a 100% compostable, non-toxic, plastic free, gluten free alternative to plastic straws.
Little Green Panda also makes straws from bamboo and sugar cane, and both are similarly compostable.
The two companies have already made their mark internationally, working with wholesalers across Australia, New Zealand, France, Italy and Hong Kong.
Their clients include Marriott Hotels, Sofitel, Hilton Hotel, Attica and Australian Liquor Marketers.
Little Green Panda also has deals with supermarkets in France and is in talks with Australian supermarkets.
