The Skygate precinct of Brisbane Airport is set for a makeover next year with the launch of a new entertainment and hospitality destination to be called 'Landers Pocket', following a partnership between Golf Central and Asahi-owned Green Beacon Brewing Company.
Golf Central has had a presence in the area since reaching a deal with Brisbane Airport in 2013, with a mini golf course and driving range complemented by a clubhouse and events facilities.
Under the new development, set to open next year, Golf Central will provide an 800-person capacity hospitality offering, with Green Beacon running an adjacent brewery and distillery.
Landers Pocket will also feature a second mini golf course, padel tennis courts, multiple function and event spaces, and an outdoor amphitheatre.
"Brisbane Airport is thrilled to welcome this exciting development. It promises to provide travellers with a unique and memorable destination at BNE, while also becoming a landmark venue for Brisbane residents," says Brisbane Airport's executive general manager commercial, Martin Ryan.
"In 2025, this will be the newest venue for Brisbane to experience, injecting jobs and vibrancy into the Skygate precinct of the airport.
"The naming of Landers Pocket is a nice nod to history and the market garden that occupied part of the airport site a century ago."
Green Beacon general manager Richard Shrosbery describes the announcement as "unbelievably exciting for Green Beacon".
"The new brewery and hospitality venue will ensure we get our award-winning beers into the hands of more beer lovers than ever before," says Shrosbery.
"Green Beacon has been a part of the Brisbane community at Teneriffe for over a decade, and this expansion will be a huge springboard for our brand. We want to bring people together to connect, talk, laugh and have fun – and we believe this new precinct will enable that.
"This will also create dozens of job opportunities for the area. The team here are thrilled to be a part of this broader leisure precinct at Landers Pocket, right here in our home of Brisbane."
Golf Central has always been at the forefront of golf innovation, according to its managing director James Cooper, who believes Landers Pocket will deliver a "re-imagined golf and entertainment experience to our local, interstate, and international golfers".
"There will be something for everyone and we can’t wait for this next stage of our evolution to open in early 2025," Cooper says.
