Indian technology multinational Infosys (NSE: INFY) has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Sydney-headquartered IT services firm The Missing Link for an undisclosed sum to strengthen its cybersecurity capabilities and bolster its presence in the "fast-growing Australian market".
The Missing Link was originally founded by its CEO Alex Gambotto in 1997 delivering IT solutions and services to businesses, and has grown to assist some of Australia’s most well-known organisations - from Kennards to the University of Sydney - in achieving their goals with streamlined IT.
In 2013 the company embarked on a fateful expansion into a new vertical, launching a security division in response to a rising threat of cyber crime - a division that grew to become one of the most respected cyber security groups in the country.
The group evolved again in 2019 with the launch of its robotic process automation (RPA) division, designed to relieve staff from the burden of process-based tasks, boosting productivity and freeing them to engage in more interesting or profitable work.
The Australian company's current co-owners include Gambotto, Daniel Forsythe, Aaron Bailey and Sam Marshall.
Infosys highlights The Missing Link's highly skilled cybersecurity professionals and a state-of-the-art global security operations centre (GSOC) that will add to its own network of global cyber defence centres, with the practice providing strategic advice, offensive and defensive security services and tactical support, cybersecurity risk assessments and compliance, and managed services.
Infosys was also attracted by The Missing Link's innovative proprietary solutions and accelerators.
"Technology led transformation and securing the enterprise are amongst the highest priorities for global corporations. Together with The Missing Link, and our cloud offering Infosys Cobalt, we aim to usher in the new wave of differentiated value to customers, with specialised end-to-end cybersecurity offerings and solutions," says Infosys executive vice president and chief delivery officer Satish HC.
"We are excited to welcome The Missing Link and their leadership team to Infosys."
The Missing Link CEO and founder Alex Gambotto says while the company's ownership may change, its commitment to delivering top-tier solutions remains unwavering.
"As we take this exciting next step in our journey, I am proud of all we have accomplished together over the last 27 years. Our team has worked tirelessly to build a company that delivers excellence, innovation, and value to our clients and partners with our core ethos of under promise and overdeliver," he says.
"I am thrilled that The Missing Link will be joining Infosys. This acquisition marks a significant milestone for us, allowing The Missing Link to leverage the immense expertise, platforms, and global reach of Infosys to better serve our customers and expand our capabilities.
"We are confident that together, we can create even greater value for all our clients, partners, and team."
The acquisition is expected to close by 30 June, 2025.
