Biome Australia (ASX: BIO) is on track to deliver its first full-year profit after posting record annual sales of $18.4 million, aided by its strongest quarter ever, with the microbiome health company declaring FY25 as a breakout year for the group.
Building on momentum in the first half which saw the company tip its earnings into the black with a modest $433,395 net profit, revenue for the latest financial year is up 41 per cent compared to FY24.
Biome’s fourth quarter sales of $5 million are up 33 per cent on the same time last year, while June alone contributed $2.1 million to this total – an increase of 50 per cent compared to June last year.
The Melbourne-based Biome, founded and led by Blair Vega Norfolk, says FY25 was a “breakout year” marked by significant milestones that position the company for sustained domestic growth.
“Biome is pleased to report that its domestic business sell-through, a key indicator of consumer demand, increased by over 50 per cent in FY25, solidifying Biome's status as the category's leading growth brand,” says the company.
Biome is also making gains in international markets as the company continues to develop its business in Canada, Ireland, United Kingdom and New Zealand.
“As the financial year concluded, the team successfully secured a number of new major international retailers, wholesalers and distributors,” says the company.
“These partnerships are expected to drive growth outside Australia in FY26 and beyond.”
Biome Australia produces and markets a range of live probiotics that help prevent and support the management of health concerns, including low mood and sleep, bone health and cholesterol.
While Australia is Biome’s primary market with a footprint of 6,000 pharmacy and practitioner distribution points, the company is starting to make headway internationally, especially in the UK and Canada.
Biome is expecting to report its sixth consecutive quarter of positive EBITDA for the fourth quarter of FY25, leading to its first full year of net profit in the FY25 accounts.
Vega Norfolk, the Biome managing director, points out that the 41 per cent increase in sales over FY25 has significantly outpaced category growth by seven to 10 times.
“Our Activated Probiotics have now secured the number two position in total probiotic revenue within community pharmacy,” he says.
“I am incredibly proud of our team's dedication to developing key accounts, driving growth, and consistently delivering industry-leading customer service, support and education.”
Critically, the latest result delivers on Biome’s Vision 27 plan announced in September last year that Vega Norfolk plans to transform Biome from an ASX microcap company into a “major player in the Australian and global complementary medicine markets”.
Through this vision, Biome is targeting cumulative revenue of between $75 million and $85 million over the three financial years to FY27. The latest revenue figures currently give Biome an annual revenue run rate of $20 million.
“The $20 million run-rate going into FY26 supports the ongoing growth plans shared with the market in our Vision 27, which is well on track,” says Vega Norfolk.
“I look forward to sharing further updates on the international markets, which have been a key focus of development in FY25 in supporting the business maintaining its position as a high-growth, profit-generating company for many years to come.”
Today’s announcement drove Biome shares almost 11 per cent higher this morning to a peak of 50.5c.
