TERMINALS owned and managed by Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) at Townsville, Mount Isa and Gold Coast have recorded another month of aggregate growth in passenger movements.
The passenger movements for the QAL Group for August 2009 were 566,795 – a 9 per cent increase compared to August 2008.
QAL managing director Dennis Chant, noted that both Townsville and the Gold Coast had an increase in domestic passengers.
“Gold Coast continues to experience exceptional growth in the international passenger numbers with 59,169 movements recorded last month, representing an increase of 123 per cent on this time last year,” says Chant.
“While Mount Isa numbers remain down on last year, we are starting to see an increase in monthly passenger numbers. The highest passenger movements for Mount Isa Airport since November 2008 have been recorded in August.
“We will not take this continued growth for granted, however and will continue to work hard with our airline partners and regional communities to sustain this level of service.”
