GOLD COAST ENGINEER WINS HUGE BRISBANE CONTRACT

GOLD Coast engineering firm EMF Griffiths is part of the winning consortium for the $645 million, 1 William Street tower project in Brisbane.

The firm is part of the The Cbus Property team, which has procured Brookfield Multiplex to build the 45-storey tower on the Brisbane riverfront for the Queensland Government.

It will be involved in projects from the base building works through to the fitout of offices and has responsibility for all building services including mechanical, electrical, communications and data services, security, lighting, hydraulics and fire services.

EMF Griffiths managing director, Warren Barfett, says it is the company’s largest commission.

“Our team has developed innovative engineering designs, with a high level of input, at the conceptual stage of the development, taking into consideration Cbus Property’s vision for this iconic new project,” he says.

The 126,000sqm GFA Commercial Office Project will accommodate several central State Government agencies and will be the second-tallest tower in the city.

The project features extensive gardens and a civic space on the ground floor, a 12-metre high entrance foyer, 75,000sqm of office space, 1,169sqm of retail space and carparking for 318 cars.

The tower will house approximately 4,600 public servants across 60,000sqm while about 15,000sqm will be available for lease by the state government for the private sector when the building is completed in 2016.

The company has previously worked on a number of projects including Brisbane Square, Suncorp Tower Two, Riparian Plaza and 55 Elizabeth Street (ATO Fitout).

The company has also engineered the iconic Wave Tower, Circle on Cavill, Soul and Oracle on the Gold Coast.
