INCREASED global competition and the rapid rate of technological advances have shown the need to manage change in order to succeed in business.
Queensland Urban Utilities CEO Ian Maynard (pictured) will appear at the Griffith Business School’s Global Insights Series on April 27 in the Sebel & Citigate, sharing how he successfully led myriad organisations through difficult times.
Based on his extensive experience, Maynard will provide insight into key challenges involved in organisational change. He will also suggest practical solutions for managing the change process and leveraging it to maximise outcomes.
Edgy, topical and often controversial, the Griffith Business School’s Global Insights Series aims to examine current issues of relevance to business and industry.
Senior business personalities share their thoughts and practical insights on critical business issues with expert facilitators Jenny Brockie and Adam Spencer.
Brockie is an Australian journalist currently working as the host of SBS television program Insight. She brings 20 years of current affairs reporting experience to the panel.
Spencer on the other hand is a local radio presenter, comedian and media personality who is well known for his on-air hosting work for Triple J.

Meanwhile, one of America’s top executive education academics will present a two-day workshop on customer loyalty next month.
Dr Peter Wilton, from the University of California Berkeley Centre for Executive Education, will discuss Customer Loyalty for Competitive Advantage at Griffith University’s South Bank campus on May 17 and 18.
The course identified that in a competitive market, increased profit and revenue and a larger market chare can be achieved by turning customer engagement into enduring customer loyalty.
But it warns that customer satisfaction, which many managers mistakenly equate with customer loyalty, can often lead the organisation into a state of complacency that undermines the drive to build a unique customer base.
Dr Wilton is a consultant to global brands such as Apple Computer, British Airways, Nokia, ING Insurance, Ericsson, Coca-Cola Amatil and the ANZ Bank. He also lectures at Stanford, Purdue and Duke Universities.
Griffith Pro Vice-Chancellor (Business) Professor Michael Powell said he was delighted that such an outstanding program was the first executive education course to be offered by the school’s new Asia Pacific Management Centre.
“The Asia Pacific Management Centre is a new enterprise within Griffith Business School which will provide leading-edge executive education programs as well as customised professional development programs for industry,” says Professor Powell.
“We will bring world thought leaders to Brisbane to share their knowledge and help build local business skills and practical proficiencies.”
Dr Wilton will deliver another workshop for Griffith’s Asia Pacific Management Centre in September. That will be entitled Advanced Strategic Planning and Implementation: A Process Model (UC Berkeley).
