QUEEN STREET GOES UP

QUEEN STREET GOES UP
Consolidated Properties is building up on its home base with a $200 million residential tower at Queen Street.

The lodgement of the development application today stated that Spire will stretch 39 levels and comprise 340 one and two-bedroom apartments.

Consolidated Properties executive chairman Don O’Rorke says the building will be a statement in the heart of the CBD, fronting Ann and Queen Streets.

“Queen Street is arguably the best residential site in the CBD and Spire will create a visually exciting and innovative statement that people will instantly recognise as the northern gateway to Brisbane’s inner city,” says O’Rorke.

“The inspiration for the name Spire comes from its close proximity to St John’s Cathedral on Ann Street and the buildings is respectful of the existing heritage values of its location.

“The building’s design include a podium level, which folds back to ensure the vista of the St John’s Cathedral steeple remains uninterrupted along Ann Street."

John Wardle Architects is behind the design of the building and president Bill Krotiris calls it a major entry point to the city.

“Spire provides a striking and dynamic form that is appropriate for this gateway location,” says Krotiris.

“The tower’s curved form gives it a sleekness befitting such an outstanding location.”
