Social networking used to recruit

THE popularity of social networking has grown enormously in the past 24 months and as a result, the various sites are now gaining recognition among Australian businesses.
In a recent survey by Konica Minolta, more than a quarter (27 per cent) of managers believe sites like Facebook and MySpace have a fixed position in the Australian workplace. Social networks are being used for recruitment purposes, trialling new products and supporting product launches.
But while business heads and marketers are in agreement that they must start to use social networking channels, the vast majority are not sure where to start or how to get involved.
CEO of Daemon Group and Daemon Digital Rich Spencer, says with a new blog created every second and more than 250 million users of Facebook and MySpace globally, social networks are the ‘future of communications’ for the young and old, consumers and corporates.
