SUNGLASS CREW STUMBLES ONTO BIG IDEA

ONE man's attempt at designing the perfect storage solution for sunglasses in cars has led to an innovative discovery, and now he is looking at crowdfunding to bring it to commercial reality.

Gold Coast-based developer Jim Richards set out to save our sunnies and instead created the ideal storage space for iPhones, wallets, and even garage buzzers.

Richards' invention, the VYZA Grab Strap, began as a simple car visor-mounted storage solution, but quickly evolved into a piece of equipment that could hold a multitude of other items.

The VYZA is fully adjustable to fit all cars, and incorporates three boundary pushing 'grip strips' on the inner surface to ensure that whatever you need to stay in place will do just that.

The former glasses guru turned storage saviour says sometimes the simplest solution to a problem works the best.

"After 20 years in the eyewear industry people kept telling me how they damaged their sunglasses in the car by sitting on them, or leaving them in the glove box or console, and I couldn't believe that no one had attempted a product to remedy this," says Richards.

To help monetize the project, the VYZA team has turned to Indiegogo, an international crowd funding platform. VYZA is creeping close to its funding goal of $8000.

"Our cash reserves are exhausted after spending more than a year getting the project to this stage, so we really need a little bit of help to get to the next level of seeking international agents, especially in the US where we have already had some interest," says Richards.

"We're offering VYZA Grab Straps to anyone who helps us reach our goal of $8000, and orders placed during the campaign will be delivered in time for Christmas."
