The Gold Coast clubs shared in almost $40,000 raised at the Ray White Surfers Paradise (RWSP) V8 Supercars in Business lunch last month.
The October 23 event drew more than 600 guests who opened their wallets for a number of big-ticket auction items, including a Ferrari experience in Italy which went under the hammer for $7300 and a Mario Andretti racing car experience for two in the US, which sold for $5500.
It was the first time Ray White Surfers Paradise (RWSP) teamed up with V8 Supercars to stage the lunch, held on the eve of this year’s Castrol EDGE Gold Coast 600.
RWSP director Greg Bell says V8’s presence helped take the event up a gear.
“The response from the business community was great – it was fantastic to see so many people take time to enjoy themselves and ultimately dig deep for our two very worthy beneficiaries,” Bell says.
“The auction results exceeded our expectations and both donors and bidders should be commended for their generosity.
“For the surf clubs, these funds couldn’t come at a more crucial time as we head into peak summer season.”
RWSP Group has raised around $600,000 for surf lifesaving over the past 15 years.
The lunch is one of several charity events held by Ray White Surfers Paradise annually, including the Muscular Dystrophy Charity Ball and upcoming Ray White Hope Island Golf Day set for November 21.
