ANOTHER AWARD GOES TO THERESE REIN

A FAMILIAR face continues to prove she is far more than just a former First Lady.

For a time she was mostly known as the wife of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

Now, Thérèse Rein (pictured) rightly has a reputation of her own as one of the country’s most successful business operators.

Rein is founder and managing director of rehabilitation and employment services group Ingeus, which operates in 10 countries and employs 2300 people.

Her achievements earned her inclusion last month in the Brisbane Business News Top 50 private companies list.

Ingeus was ranked No.41 with Australian revenues of around $200 million.

She also was named by Ernst & Young as its Queensland “champion of entrepreneurship".

Now, Rein has been named as the 2012 Telstra Queensland Business Woman of the Year at a ceremony in Brisbane.

She was also named the top business owner at the awards function in Brisbane.

Rein says she was inspired to create her business in 1989 by her father John.

She admired his courage, determination and will to work after suffering a crippling injury.

Ingeus has evolved into an international provider of welfare-to-work services for the long-term unemployed, people with disabilities, the young and mature aged, refugees and migrants.

In addition to Ingeus, Rein last year acquired Assure Programs, a business psychology services company operating in Australia and New Zealand that provides employee assistance programs and organisational development.

Other Queensland Awards winners included: Karla Way-McPhail (founder and CEO of Undamine Industries and Coal Train Australia); Carolyn Devries (founder of non-profit law firm New Way Lawyers); Carolyn Thomson (general manager of Kadoe Commercial Coatings); and Chandra Clements (CEO of Sentis).
