Test trial dock for boat show

AUSTRALIA’S premier international marine lifestyle event is preparing for further growth following the announcement of a dedicated sea trial area in this year’s exhibition in May.

In a national first, exhibitors at the 2010 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show can book a berth on the sea trial dock within the marina display area.

Event general manager Barry Jenkins, says the component was introduced as a response to participant demand.

“The facility may be useful for a wide range of marine exhibitors from smaller trailerable craft through to luxury vessels,” says Jenkins.

“Many exhibitors commented (that) they wanted the opportunity to showcase their designs and products to prospective customers in a short sea trial.”

The sea trial dock will offer clear and direct access to the Coomera River for tests during show hours from May 20-23.

The opportunity is restricted to one berth per exhibitor with a limited number of berths up to 45ft and some berths possible for longer vessels.

Other initiatives for the 2010 event include a prestige brokerage and charter display for exhibition from accredited marina brokers and dealers.

This new category means there will be more high-quality 15m-plus vessels, some valued at more than $1 million.

“The show’s management is delighted with exhibitor response thus far with 80 per cent of our pavilion areas booked some four months out from the event,” says Jenkins.

“We believe these new components will further enhance the show’s reputation as a leading marine event in the Australasian region.”
