'FAMILY' FOCUS FOR COMMONWEALTH GAMES BOARD

'FAMILY' FOCUS FOR COMMONWEALTH GAMES BOARD

COMMONWEALTH Games Federation (CFG) executive board members are the latest in a long list of delegates to visit the ‘glitter strip’.

The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Bid Team has welcomed CGF vice-president and Malaysian HRH Prince Tunku Imran, two regional vice-presidents and medical and legal advisors.

Premier Anna Bligh says the group will experience the best of what the city has to offer.

“While they will visit the proposed venues and facilities, they will also spend time touring a number of the Coast’s accommodation options,” she says.

“The focus of their itinerary is very similar to that of the voting delegates. However, there is a much stronger concentration on the Games Family facilities and transport.

Bligh says the plan is to give the Games family the best possible experience.

“The city’s range of world-class accommodation options, attractions and venues would provide staff and officials one of the best games experiences if the Gold Coast were to win the bid,” she says.

A final delegation including representatives from Asia will arrive in the city on October 20.

The winning host city will be announced on November 11 in St Kitts and Nevis.
