AUSTRALIA DUPLICATES EURO PRINT TECHNOLOGY

DOCUMENT management technology is rapidly advancing with intelligent systems likely to dominate the market within years.

Australia’s largest independent print solutions provider BBC Digital is seeing demand for efficient, sophisticated document management systems with Australia quickly catching on to tech-savvy regions in west Europe.
CEO Archie Fraser says around 80 per cent of all printing devices in Europe have some form of integrated intelligence and now in Australia seven out of 10 printers sold also have the technology.

“The industry is in a transitional phase where business owners are becoming very conscious of the intelligent technology available to them. It will probably take less than five years for these systems to be the standard in any successful company,” he says.

Canon is one brand where the new range of multifunction business printers feature state-of-the art print diversion, storage and recalling technology.
Fraser likens the core benefits to having an advanced electronic file database at your fingertips. As paper files look set to become obsolete, he highlights the importance of proficient information systems in the modernised business landscape.

“The new range of fully integrated document management systems can improve efficiency and accuracy in your daily business operations,” says Fraser.

“But the key benefit is what it can do to improve the level of service given to your customers. If someone calls up to query an invoice you can instantly recall it to your computer without leaving them on hold or having to call them back.
“Even simple things project an image of professionalism and give customers the impression they’re dealing with a smart company.”

Southport-based BBC Digital has serviced the Gold Coast for 35 years, and in the last five years has expanded into Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide to now have six offices across four states.
