BOOSTING BUSINESS WITH STAFF GROWTH

BOOSTING BUSINESS WITH STAFF GROWTH

WARDY IT Solutions founder Peter Ward (pictured) says the biggest challenge and opportunity he faced during FY10/11 was employing new team members to assist with growth.

“Any organisation that’s had continued growth like ours will face challenges with resources. We also need to make sure our recruitment and succession plan is in place and that we continue to maintain a high level of service,” he says.

“Business has been really good over FY10/11 – we’ve grown 40 per cent as we’ve seen a large upturn in our managed services business.

“More and more companies are looking to utilise their staff more strategically by using this service, which allows organisations to ensure the maintenance of their database environment.”

Wardy IT Solutions provides business intelligence in terms of computing and database administration and was established as a consulting vehicle for Ward.

“In future, we will continue to grow the business through investment in technology and with our iPad application. There are still opportunities in the business intelligence space and in providing analytics support to help companies manage their business,” he says.

“Our customers range from small business to larger ones as well as the public sector – any company with a Microsoft server basically. We don’t focus on chasing one particular client – our target market is a horizontal market.”

Ward started the business as a consulting company that has continued to grow.

“Our first customer is still a customer today and, in terms of starting the business, no external capital was injected in getting the company off the ground – I think I put a couple of thousand dollars on the credit card,” he says.

“Since then, we’ve grown into one of Australia’s leading SQL server consultants, trainers and business intelligence specialists and I think that’s due to our continued focus on technical excellence and high levels of customer satisfaction.

“With any new business there’s going to be mistakes, but you just have to learn from those mistakes and build and grow from that.”
