BRISBANE FIRMS BATTLE IT OUT IN CHARITY DASH

PROJECTS and construction lawyers Emily Hartnell and Dan Peach (pictured) hoisted the colours for Clayton Utz at the inaugural running of the Youngcare Gift in support of a worthy cause.

In an effort to raise funds and awareness for Youngcare, a charity focused on supporting young Australians with high care needs, the corporate sprint competition was organised by KPMG last Friday at the Brothers Rugby Club in Albion.

The Clayton Utz team fired up through the final rounds, with Hartnell taking out the female title and Peach winning runner-up overall.

Although they faced stiff competition, particularly from the teams at DLA Piper and Herbert Smith Freehills, Peach says the Clayton Utz team couldn't be happier with the overall outcome of the event.

The pair say they were proud to play a part in supporting important work throughout the community, particularly helping to achieve appropriate lifestyles for young people with special needs.

"The charity is aimed at pulling these young kids out of elderly care and bringing them into more suitable environments," says Hartnell.

"We believe it is a great cause all around and were happy to get behind it.

"It's something that is relevant for people of our age bracket as well. If we were to suffer a life-altering illness we would be looking to something like this for support."

Next year's race is expected to be even bigger, with Hartnell and Peach already looking forward to donning the spikes in defence of their titles.
