BRISBANE PROVES A NATURAL FIT FOR INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
HOPGOODGANIM is facilitating relationships with the oil and gas industries of Canada and Australia.

Delegates of the Canadian Oil and Gas Trade and Investment Mission to Australia were treated to a reception in Brisbane, hosted by HopgoodGanim, before attending the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA) conference in Perth.

HopgoodGanim, in conjunction with the Consulate General of Canada, the Provincial Government of Alberta and Brisbane Marketing, gave local oil and gas industry participants the opportunity to meet representatives of the seven Canadian oilfield services companies taking part in the mission.

The trade and investment mission aims to help the Canadian companies to explore opportunities and develop strong trade relationships with participants in Australia’s unconventional gas sector.

Senior Trade Commissioner, Consul General of Canada Marie-Louise Hannan, says the reception emphasised the relationship between the two markets proving that ties between the Australian and Canadian oil and gas industries are continuing to grow.

“The two countries share language, culture and legal practices, making them a natural fit to do business together. Australia is the third-largest global destination for international investment,” says Hannan.

HopgoodGanim Corporate Advisory and Governance partner Michele Muscillo believes there are many opportunities for Australian and Canadian oil and gas companies to collaborate on existing and future projects in Brisbane.

“This is made evident by the number of Canadian companies that we assist on the ground each year to forge local ties, and also in discussions I held with a number of businesses at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada conference in Toronto earlier this year,” says Muscillo.

“HopgoodGanim is proud to host this event for the third year running, especially given the new and mutually beneficial relationships it has fostered between participants in the Australian and Canadian oil and gas industries."
