CARTER NEWELL UPHOLDING INDEPENDENCE FOR A QUARTER CENTURY

WHERE independent firms have at times been front and centre of mergers and acquisitions, Carter Newell Lawyers have been independent for a quarter-century as one of Brisbane’s principal specialist firms.

Following 25 years of practice, the promotion of more than 10 devoted partners, reception of numerous industry awards and employment of 150 dedicated staff members, senior partner Paul Hopkins (pictured right) has thanked the firm’s workers for contributing to Carter Newell’s success.

“It has been a privilege to act for our clients, so many of which are long standing,” says Hopkins.

“Our staff have made this happen, their commitment to the firm’s goals, the absolute unwavering dedication to service our clients and the genuine care and respect for each other has resulted in Carter Newell’s success.”

The firm celebrated its 25th successful year in practice by taking more than 250 staff and family members to Tangalooma Island for a weekend holiday.

CEO Dr Peter Ellender attributes the performance of Carter Newell staff in large part to the care given by family members, and says it is important for such a milestone to have been shared among all people lending a hand in achieving company prosperity.

“To enable our staff to perform to the best of their ability they are often supported and encouraged by those that live with them, sometimes the unseen champions, and we wanted to recognise that both staff and their family and friends make this happen,” says Ellender.

“By inviting everyone to this special day we can all recognise the valuable contribution made both in and out of the firm.”

With Carter Newell’s young average age of partners and high employee retention rates, Hopkins looks forward to future prospects for the firm as it continues to grow.

“We are looking towards the next period in our history with great optimism, there is so much more the firm can achieve with the next generation of lawyers we currently have on board,” he says.

Since opening its doors in November 1989, Carter Newell has become recognised as being a leading provider of legal services including insurance, resources, construction and engineering.
