THE Brisbane City Council continues to show faith in the commercial revival of South Brisbane, approving a 10-storey, 1100 square metre office complex at 6 Cordelia Street.
Beretta Project Services director Frank Ferro, says the project will pave the way for future development.
“Working with council, Beretta believes commercial office development in the area, as an alternative to the CBD, is the most logical way for this part of South Brisbane to evolve and move forward,” says Ferro.
“They believe the conversion of what are traditional light industrial tenancies to what we are about to build could well be the catalyst for a large-scale rejuvenation of the suburb. The site is walking distance to the CBD and it’s perfectly situated for easy access to the north-south transport links and the Hale Street link.”
Proponents of the development are hopeful the approval is the beginning of a long-awaited transformation of one of the city’s under-performing inner areas.
“Cordelia Street and indeed South Brisbane has been waiting a long time for this to happen,” says Ferro.
The development is located in the block bounded by Montague Road and Boundary, Merivale and Peel streets.Commercialfn.com Director George Koukides is marketing the project.
“It truly ticks all the boxes,” says Koukides.
“An 1100 m2 leased office building provides excellent holding income. It’s right in the heart of South Brisbane, it’s easy walking distance to restaurants, the South Bank Parklands, car, bus and rail transport and the best working and lifestyle options in the city.
“The approval is a true demonstration of the faith Brisbane City Council has in the area and it’s opened up some very exciting commercial and retail opportunities.”
