PLANS for the proposed Coomera Town Centre have been given state government approval.
The Coomera Town Centre covers around 680 hectares and when completed, will be home to about 50,000 people and provide regional shopping and business facilities.
The approval means the master plan has addressed all issues identified in the structure plan and complies with the Sustainable Planning Act 2009.
Assistant minister for planning reform Ian Walker (pictured) says the Gold Coast City Council is now free to move ahead and finalise its decision on the application.
The development has been repeatedly stalled by discussions between the council and shopping centre giant Westfield.
