YOU can tell by this shot that the team at 40/40 Creative do things a little differently - but, it seems to be working with the Gold Coast business managing more than 30 active clients and growing turnover by more than 60 per cent last financial year.
Founded in 2012, 40/40 Creative is a design agency specialising in graphic and digital design, photography, video and street art.
The past year has seen the most significant growth, with the company launching a new studio website, a lifestyle blog, a clothing brand, and a pop-up store. This year alone, the team has worked on more than 15 different murals and eight new video projects.
In addition it is working with big names including UBER, UGG Since 1974, ISOCOL, Jack of the Dust and Radio Metro. It is also about to start work on a 30-metre mural as part of Pacific Fair's $670 million refurbishment.
Founder and creative director Nic Nichols (pictured right) says it is the team's unique perspective that has led to its success, and will ultimately help him to achieve his career goal of owning and managing a globally recognised agency with studios in Europe and the US.
"We're youthful and our personality is very transparent, and I believe that reflects our creative processes and style," says Nichols.
"Our overall portfolio is very diverse so I find people are generally curious and more or less surprised with our actual insights and design work."
With a passion for design, Nichols says the biggest difficulty is balancing the management of the business with the artistic side.
"One of my biggest challenges with the business is finding that balance of working in it, versus on it," he says.
"In order to create breakthrough thinking for one or the other requires singular focus and that's really important to maintain."
40/40 Creative is a full creative hub with its own art gallery, workshops and collector goods store.
The business employs six full-time staff and works with an additional five to 10 contractors.
