ELLIS RETURNS TO RIVER CITY LABS IN TOP JOB

STARTUP strategist Peta Ellis has made a triumphant return to River City Labs as CEO.

Ellis was general manager at the technology startup hub for nearly four years until last December, before taking maternity leave.

She has worked with a number of entrepreneurs as a mentor, strategist and marketer, as well as launched the 12-week Brisbane Sponsored Entrepreneur Program for budding business founders.

"The new role offers a good degree of flexibility I require as a working mum," Ellis says.

"New-age employers need to recognise the importance of balancing the needs of business and their workforce.

"I'm pleased to be given the opportunity to work in an area I'm passionate about and ensure that my family remains a priority."

Ellis will drive growth for River City Labs which plans to hire up to eight people over the next six months, including an entrepreneur-in-residence.

She will also be responsible for managing the community and leveraging the brand's partnerships with the business sector in Brisbane, including Suncorp, Bank of Queensland and CUA.

River City Labs founder Steve Baxter says Ellis is an asset to the organisation and has been instrumental in making it a leading co-working space in the city.

"We're thrilled to have Peta back with us," Baxter says.

"She's an expert in her field and River City Labs is fortunate to have her as part of the family again."

Ellis will commence her new role on July 4.
