Export awards

THE Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards are the state’s top recognition for successful exporting companies.

With applications closing on July 24, now is the time for Gold Coast businesses to get their online nominations in.

The awards celebrate 20 years in 2009, promoting the achievements of Queensland companies in exporting globally.

They also recognise the significant economic contribution these large and small, regional and metropolitan exporters make to the State.

“The official recognition of being a finalist or an Award winner establishes credibility in the marketplace. It will feature in our promotional and marketing material and will definitely enhance our image and help open doors,” says Joe Pease, CEO of Xstrata Technology, Queensland Exporter of the Year 2008.

Gold Coast exporting businesses can nominate across 12 award categories:
• Agribusiness
• Arts and Entertainment
• Education and Training
• Emerging Exporter
• Information and Communication Technology
• Large Advanced Manufacturer
• Large Services
• Minerals and Energy
• Small to Medium Manufacturer
• Small to Medium Services
• Small Business
• Regional Exporter of the Year Award

The winner of the Queensland Exporter of the Year Award will be selected from the winners of these categories, drawn from state-wide applications.

Additionally, there is the Richard Joel Young Export Entrepreneur Award for a successful young exporter, and the Dermot McManus Award for export innovation.

The Tom Burns Award for an emerging exporter to China or Vietnam will also be presented for the second time in 2009.

The Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards winners and finalists will be announced at a ceremony to be held on October 21, as a major event during Queensland Export Week.
