JAMIE Pherous was a globetrotting accountant with Arthur Anderson (now Ernst & Young) when he decided to start his own travel company.

So passionate was he about forging a new career in the travel industry, he left a secure and well-paying position in 1993 to work without pay for a small travel company for three months.
