GROWING THE CITY'S SPORTING CULTURE

SOME of the city's top business leaders are set to come together next month to discuss how the Gold Coast can ensure it is a serious player in staging and hosting sporting events.

Mayor Tom Tate, CEO of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Mark Peters and CEO of PGA Australia Brian Thorburn (pictured) will address a special breakfast event on Friday, December 4.

Set in the Kirkwood Club, overlooking the 18th hole at the PGA, the event will provide insight into the business of sport and highlight the benefits and importance of attracting major sporting events to the Gold Coast.

"The PGA of Australia is delighted to partner with Business News Australia and host the inaugural Business Breakfast at the 2015 Australian PGA Championship, which provides a fantastic opportunity for networking while also attending a world class golf tournament," says Thorburn.

"With the Gold Coast already a major player in successful sporting events, and set to grow in years to come with the Commonwealth Games, it is a great opportunity for our panel to highlight just why major sports events are so valuable to the community on many levels.

"The business breakfast is a new initiative as part of the Australian PGA Championship week of festivities to ensure the event caters for all and it is something we hope continues to grow the championship cements its home on the Gold Coast."

An initiative of Business News Australia and PGA Australia, the event will offer advice on how business and community members can benefit from sporting events, and will provide attendees the opportunity to witness firsthand the magnificence of one of the Gold Coast's biggest sporting events.

Attendees can watch those putting into the 18th hole from the Kirkwood Club and will have access to the PGA following the breakfast.

The event runs from 7am on December 4.  CLICK HERE for tickets.
