Hilton on track

THE $700 million Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel and Residences is on schedule with the ground floor construction now complete.

Developer Brookfield Multiplex has started work on the basement and the first floor of tower one – Boulevard Tower, with three cranes in operation.

The project will require more than one million construction hours to complete, with 900 to 1000 workers involved at its peak.

Brookfield Multiplex director of sales and marketing Tim Willing, says construction of Boulevard Tower was on track for completion in late 2010, with the second tower, Orchid Tower, expected to be finished in late 2011.

“It is exciting to see Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel and Residences racing forward and beginning to come out of the ground,” says Willing.

“The start of work on the first floors of Boulevard Tower is the first in a number of major construction milestones we will reach during the development of this significant project.

“This is a development that, on completion, will not only enhance the Surfers Paradise skyline but create a whole new level of sophistication and, at street level, retail excitement.”

Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel and Residences has already chalked up more than $295 million in sales, including the recent $8 million sale of an entire floor of apartments in Orchid Tower to a Chinese investor.

“Now purchasers can see the site bustling with activity, enquiry has continued to lift and we are in the process of finalising a new run of sales made since the official re-launch of our sales centre,” says Willing.

Boulevard Tower, which will comprise 186 one and two bedroom residences, has sold out, and apartments are now available in Orchid Tower, priced from $720,000. Orchid Tower will comprise 224 two, three and four bedroom residences and a 169-room Hilton Hotel.
