HOW BRISBANE EXECUTIVES LIVE
THE executive level - whether in business or hotels - is an area many only ever dream of entering.

Being promoted to that executive level at work is a money-can't-buy reward, whereas waking up there in a hotel is a treat within reach.

Brisbane Marriott makes all feel welcome in its luxury executive suites, through the big smiles of its hospitality staff immediately received upon arrival, to the special treatment all day, every day in the executive lounge.

What's on offer at Brisbane Marriott is an executive lifestyle with ample 'big city life' minus the pretence. Isn't that what Brisbane is best known for, after all?

A city on the cusp, brimming with industries like tech fiercely competing with Australia's biggest city - a city fast-producing the right hipster vibes shaking the crown off our second biggest city - and a city where its nightlife and dining is more awarded than its showier younger sister, just down the road.

By no coincidence, Brisbane Marriott is opportunely positioned in the heart of the city, where choice business destinations are right on its doorstep. You can quite literally take advantage of the myriad business and function centre rooms at the hotel, there's Customs House next door (see below left, taken poolside), and you're in a 10-minute walking parameter of the best Brisbane dining and business institutions.

At Business News Australia, we believe the measure of a truly great city is how much pride a community continues to invest in it, when others have left its parties and festivities. Brisbane had potentially its biggest event to date last November - the G20 - and by all measures it has just continued to boom. The view from the Brisbane Marriott is the perfect image of this, and unreal in all its evening glory. Brisbane is always alight and alive; the Story Bridge is actually more vivid than the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The best way to take advantage of this is by pulling yourself away from the room and indulging in champagne and oysters overlooking the Brisbane River at Brisbane Marriott's M Deck, the outdoor component to Motion Bar & Grill, and probably the best seat on Queen Street. The setting is ideal for wining and dining clients - a trip inside may break your bank though with a single glimpse of the Chill Wall, an elaborate wine wall with the finest drops. You won't be sorry.

Whether it's champagne and oysters overlooking the Brisbane River that tickles your fancy, or a dip in the Art Deco-inspired pool with skyline views that gets you going, Brisbane Marriott has plenty on offer.

The hotel may lack hipster flair - walls are sans vintage art prints and the lobby may not be cranking the hottest new indie band - but it sure does make up for it with a charm that is all Brisbane. Rooms are fitted out with neutral décor, solid timber and a beige palette, and bathrooms have all the fixtures you would see in a grand Queenslander.

Brisbane Marriott best caters to the more conservative, mature corporate traveller, who is just as - even more - eager to let their hair down for a drink or two at the bar downstairs. Ask for the M Bar Signature Cocktail - shaken, not stirred, of course.
