INCREASE IN VISITS TO THE FAIR WORK OMBUDSMAN

THE annual report released by The Fair Work Ombudsman shows a jump in activity, with more people visiting the website and calling the helpline.

The website received 11 million visits, up by more than one million compared to last year, with more than two million downloads of factsheets and templates.

The Small Business Helpline received almost 90,000 calls in seven months.

Minister for Employment Senator Eric Abetz says the result is good news for employers and their staff.

“Employers have more confidence to call the Fair Work Ombudsman are more willing to seek advice to ensure that they are paying their employees correctly,” Abetz says.

“These are excellent results that show that more people are learning about their wages and entitlements.”

Abetz says the service is particularly useful for small business operators, who can rely on advice without fear of prosecution.
