CEDRIC Hampson AO QC has passed away at the age of 81, effecting a deep sadness in the legal community.
Hampson was central to a number of eminent inquiries, and regarded as a key figure in Queensland’s legal, political and social history.
Queensland Law Society president Ian Brown says Hampson gave his all to the practice of law and service to justice.
“Mr Hampson was central to the Fitzgerald Inquiry, two major Criminal Justice Commission inquiries and two Royal Commissions,” says Brown.
“There are few people who have given more to the practice of law and service to justice.
“He will be remembered for his courage, outstanding integrity and inspiring legal intellect.
“Above all, he was a mentor and role model for countless lawyers.”
