LITTLE TOUCHES MAKE BIG DIFFERENCE FOR HOTEL JEN

A MAJOR rebrand has paid off for Hotel Jen Brisbane, with the Roma Street property topping the city in the annual Star Ratings Australia travellers' rating survey.

Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts launched the new brand last year, refurbishing the former Traders Hotel.

The four-star chain's repositioning has snared first place for Hotel Jen Brisbane in the Best Service, Best Value and Best Rooms categories.

Corporate and leisure travellers visiting Brisbane vote on accommodation providers based on overall guest experience, service, value and rooms.

The score also represents what guests say online, with the inclusion of reviews posted across more than 100 websites in 45 different languages.

Hotel Jen general manager Claire Huang says she was proud of the team for delivering a strong result during the first year of operations.

"Hotel Jen is all about creating a fun, friendly and fuss-free place for our guests to work or play," Huang says.

"We want everyone from our staff through to the people who stay with us every night to feel comfortable and free to be themselves.

"I think that genuine authentic approach is what really helps us stand out."

Hotel Jen Brisbane received 99 per cent for Best Service in the city, several points higher than competing five-star properties.

Huang says the hotel has received a positive response to the addition of takeaway cups for the espresso machines and complimentary Wi-Fi for up to three devices in each room.

"What's even more humbling is the fact that Star Ratings Australia surveyed guests and pulled data from a number of sources, including popular platforms like Trip Advisor, Expedia, Agoda and more," she says.

"Not only did we rank highly, but this integrated ratings approach means that the results really do reflect the majority of travellers."
