AN 8.4 per cent drop in visitation numbers hasn’t stopped the 23rd Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show from recording its highest local sales in three years.
The 36,504 visitors that attended the four-day show represented a decline on last year, but the 384 exhibitors were certainly busier.
Gold Coast favourite Riviera sold 10 boats for $15 million, with its sea trial facility completely booked out for the three available days.
Palm Beach Motor Yachts netted $7 million from two sales of British-made Princess vessels. A Sydneysider purchased a 72-footer while the 52ft yacht was sold to a Gold Coast buyer.
Clipper Motor Yachts generated $2.5 million from three sales, while Ensign Ship Brokers took an order for a Beneteau Oceanis 40 for $300,000 on the first day.
