PROMOTION FOR SUPER CHEAP CHIEF

CHRIS Wilesmith (pictured) will be promoted to managing director of Super Retail Group’s (ASX: SUL) flagship brand Supercheap Auto.

Wilesmith, SUL general manager of merchandise auto retailing for the past six years, will take the job from July 1.

In a statement to the ASX, the company says Wilesmith has made a significant contribution to leading the division’s merchandising strategies.

“He has been particularly instrumental in delivering improvements in the division’s product range and quality, building long term partnerships with trade partners and consistently striking a successful balance between growth in like-for-like sales and gross margin,” the statement says.

Willesmith will continue to report to David Ajala, managing director auto and commercial retailing division.

Ajala will oversee the Supercheap Auto business whilst driving the growth of the Group’s fledgling businesses Auto Trade Direct and Super Retail Commercial.

SUL recently announced net profit after tax (NPAT) of $60.6 million for the first half of FY13, a 74 per cent increase on the previous corresponding period.
