NATIONAL Australia Bank’s (NAB) Queensland general manager has called for people to ‘shop local’ in light of a survey showing 47 per cent of Queensland businesses receive the majority of their sales from local customers.
State general manager Julian Pearce, says 46 per cent of Queensland businesses believe their success depends on the performance of neighbouring businesses.
“There is a real domino effect that comes with spending locally. Often an entire network of businesses benefit from a single purchase, so it’s something Queensland locals can feel good about,” says Pearce.
“Local businesses put so much back into the local economy and the community by providing local jobs, goods and services, and giving back to community causes.”
He also encourages companies to tap into local networks and to take advantage of business-building opportunities.
“Simple tips like taking your business cards everywhere and making the most of every networking situation by speaking to people you don’t know go a long way in building business opportunities,” he says.
