Netball Queensland and Queensland Firebirds announce official technology partner, Blackbook.ai
Netball Queensland and the Queensland Firebirds are excited to announce Blackbook.ai has joined the partnership ranks as the club's official technology partner, with the sponsorship set to help embed technology in the high-performance sports arena as well as across membership and game day experiences.
One of Australia's leading emerging technology solution providers, Blackbook.ai, will join the triple premiership winning Firebirds on a three-year partnership providing its award-winning solutions.
As part of the technology partnership Blackbook.ai will also support five scholarships annually, each worth $5,000, for young netballers to study computer science.
Netball Queensland CEO Catherine Clark said this partnership provided a valuable link in the technology space for netball in Queensland and noted the superb value in working with an Australian-based technology company.
"Sport is a rapidly changing industry and technology is playing an ever increasing role in every aspect of what we do," Clark said.
"I am thrilled to be partnering with a Queensland-based brand in Blackbook.ai and to explore how we can partner to create customised and integrated technology solutions specifically for sport.
"There's no doubt things have evolved quickly in the technology space over the past year especially. We know we need to embrace emerging technologies."
Clark said the partnership with Blackbook.ai would help Netball Queensland work on improving its automation, data and digital capabilities.
"We're also keen to explore the potential of artificial intelligence in the sporting landscape," Clark said.
"It is also incredibly exciting to find a partner as passionate as we are about seeing more women succeeding in the new careers paths being created by tech evolution.
"Such is our organisational focus on being at the forefront, we recently set up a Digital and Technology Board Sub-Committee to provide guidance and advice on how we navigate this space and how we secure system efficiencies at a time when market disruption is high."
Blackbook.ai is renowned for developing systems that are taking Australian businesses into the next era of industry.
A trailblazer in his own right, Blackbook.ai's CEO and founder Thuy Lam said Blackbook.ai was excited about the partnership with Netball Queensland.
"As a company that means what it says, we approached Netball Queensland on how we can reach young women participating in grassroots competitions and, encourage them to pursue a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths)," Lam said.
"As our conversations gained momentum, we were both excited about the prospect of how technology can energise all aspects of the Firebirds and Netball Queensland.
"I'm a proud dad of two daughters, and both my wife and I are passionate about promoting greater gender equality in tech. I'm proud today to be entering this long-term partnership where we can make an immediate impact."
Lam said he was really invested in encouraging young women to take on STEM, with this partnership providing a platform where young women could work in cutting-edge technology in the sport they love.
