Melbourne-headquartered road safety technology company Acusensus (ASX: ACE) has secured a 12-month extension to its original mobile phone and seatbelt detection enforcement contract with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), one of the first adopters of the group's automated seatbelt compliance cameras.
The extension, which adds $4.3 million to the company's contract value, is the first of two 12-month options available under the contract and pushes the final service term end date to 30 November next year.
The move comes just over a month after the NSW Government exercised a six-month extension to its mobile speed camera services agreement with Acusensus in June, valued at $16 million per six-month period.
Transport for NSW retains an additional six-month extension option under that agreement.
Queensland's TMR was the first jurisdiction in the world to deploy automated seatbelt compliance enforcement when it engaged Acusensus in 2021.
The program has since been expanded twice, first in August 2023 and again in December 2024, with the second expansion close to doubling the number of trailer units in service.
Final deliveries under the most recent expansion are expected in the first quarter of FY27.

"In addition to the injuries and casualties avoided from deterring phone use and speeding, we estimate that 15 fatalities are avoided each year as a result of TMR’s seatbelt compliance initiatives.
"Extending these services reflects the ongoing value of the program and our shared commitment to reducing road trauma across Queensland.”
Acusensus reported first-half FY26 revenue of $40.3 million, up 40 per cent year-on-year, and in May the company reaffirmed its full-year FY26 revenue guidance of $83 million to $87 million with adjusted EBITDA of $7.2 million to $8.2 million.
The NSW long-term mobile speed camera re-tender process remains ongoing, with no timeline disclosed for its resolution.
A second 12-month extension option on the Queensland contract remains available to TMR beyond November 2027.
