Brisbane-based startup Zeligate, which has developed an AI workforce platform for businesses, is looking to ramp up operations armed with $5.5 million in seed funding.
After securing $3 million from a seed round, Zeligate is currently finalising a $2.5 million second seed round ahead of a planned Series A capital raise early next year.
The fresh capital will be used by Zeligate in the launch of its AI multi-tasking workforce, known as Zelis, which the company says is a step up from existing platforms such as ChatGPT and Perplexity as these are only capable of handling single tasks.
Founded in 2023 by Denver Naidoo, Zeligate aims to redefine the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace with Zelis trained in traditional job roles with “real multitasking capabilities” that can be deployed in minutes.
“The Zeligate AI Workforce introduces a new paradigm in advanced AI technology and instantly elevates workplace efficiency and productivity,” says Naidoo.
“We provide the fastest, cheapest and easiest way to bring the benefits of AI into any business.
“Unlike ChatGPT or Perplexity, which provide input-based answers, or ‘wrappers and bots’ that only handle single tasks, Zelis performs entire tasks like interviewing candidates, taking notes, summarising conversations or signing on new customers.”
While the Zeligate AI Workforce is being designed for multiple business functions, the two existing Zelis offerings comprise a hiring assistant and a personal assistant, with a customer service assistant planned to be added to the mix before the end of the year.
Zeligate says that its platform requires no up-front development costs or technical skills, with the “out-of-the-box” Zelis able to provide businesses with a team of AI workers that automate repetitive tasks, streamline processes, and work without breaks that it says lead to higher output and faster turnaround times.
The Software-as-a-Service business adds that its AI provides multi-tasking capabilities that are “far beyond simple query-based systems, with each Zeli accessible through a browser with minimal onboarding costs”.
Built using the large language models, including the latest ChatGPT-4o model, each Zeli is said to be able to adapt to specific user needs, workflows and business knowledge over time, which allows the technology to improve and reduce bias over time.
Zeligate cites the findings of Atlassian’s State of Teams Report 2024, which shows that 63 per cent of knowledge workers and 79 per cent of executives acknowledge the importance of AI, but many of them struggle to understand how to integrate it into their daily tasks.
“We’re addressing the key challenge highlighted by Atlassian’s research by eliminating the pain point of implementing AI,” says Naidoo.
“With Zelis, organisations have an AI workforce in critical areas of the business and can immediately enjoy its productivity gains without having to invest tens of thousands of dollars in people and technology.
“From the moment a Zelis is deployed, employees cut time-consuming tasks so they can focus their efforts on more important work.”
Naidoo notes that as large enterprises continue to invest heavily in AI, it can be expensive and take time to implement.
“Instead, we provide a far more affordable advanced GenAI solution and drastically reduce the number of individual applications and monthly subscriptions businesses may currently be spending thousands on,” he says.
Zeligate is backed by investors Rob Olver, who has been involved in several advertising, digital marketing and digital technologies ventures, and Bill Cook, a former investment director at AMP Private Equity.
