Mogul steps up its game with Australia's largest Apex Legends tournament

ASX-Listed esports platform Mogul (ASX: ESH) is proving video games are serious business.

It has only been two weeks since the tech tournament organiser signed a landmark partnership with Adelaide Crows subsidiary Legacy Esports, and now Mogul is kicking another major goal by launching its Australian Apex Open tournament.

Apex Legends has been called the world's "fastest growing battle royale game", with an active user base of 50 million players worldwide that is reportedly growing 500% quicker than its predecessor Fortnite.

This is particularly significant given that Apex Legends was only released publicly to PC and console less than three months ago.

The Australian Apex Open will be the largest Apex Legends cash-prize tournament to exist in Australia, with organiser Mogul offering $35,000 to the winning team. It will run between 14 to 18 May.

Mogul's platform is a tournament tool which regularly supports these kinds of competitions around the world.

It is an automated gaming experience that includes stat collection, streaming access, administrative tools and automated prize pool payouts.

Chief strategy and commercial officer for Mogul Jamie Skella says his company's main goal for the tournament is to aggressively drive active users to its platform and grow brand awareness and revenue within Australia.

"Open to everyone, the Australian Apex Open is the first big money tournament for all Australians to compete in, not just a select group of invitees, and it's free to enter," says

"We're excited to bring Apex to Australia in a big way, and expect to be running similar regionally focused launch events to drive early exposure into other new markets as we enter them in the near future."

Teams who participate in the Australian Apex open must compete in a minimum of four matches to earn points and the top 20 teams will progress to the finals to compete for a share in $35,000.
