ZAMBRERO POWERS UP GLUTEN FREE OFFERING

ZAMBRERO has developed a new menu offering to cater to the growing market of gluten awareness.

The Sydney-based Mexican quick service restaurant franchise has launched a black rice tortilla as part of its new Power Burrito.

Zambrero global procurement and product development manager Perry Josito says the new addition to the superfoods range underpins the company's commitment to health.

"We have spent over two years and have tested 136 recipes to develop a superfood black rice tortilla that is gluten free," Josito says.

"We believe that the new superfood tortilla is unmatched in terms of ingredients and flavour."

The Power Burrito is 100 per cent gluten free and uses ingredients including amaranth, spirulina and black rice.

It contains 60 per cent of the recommended daily protein intake and one and a half servings of the five recommended daily vegetable serves.

Zambrero CEO Karim Messih says the black rice tortilla is set to be a game changer for the company.

"With the launch of the Power Burrito, we want to encourage people to try something new and cater to the ever-evolving demand for healthier options as well as those with different dietary considerations like gluten free," Messih says.

"Equally important it means we can add another option to our menu that supports our Plate 4 Plate initiative, the heart and soul of Zambrero, helping us get even closer to our goal to end world hunger."

For every Power Burrito purchased, a meal will be donated to someone in need through Zambrero's Plate 4 Plate initiative.

Zambrero celebrated the donation of their 10 millionth meal through the Plate 4 Plate initiative in September.
