Former Megaport exec to lead Cloudscene

A telecommunications industry marketplace and cloud directory founded by Bevan Slattery in 2016 has gone on to become the largest of its kind globally, and is about to embark on a new phase of growth.

Cloudscene, a comprehensive directory of data centres and cloud service providers, was created by the entrepreneur responsible for such successful tech startups as NextDC (ASX: NXT), Superloop (ASX: SLC) and Megaport (ASX: MP1).

Slattery is also well-known for co-founding PIPENetworks, which was acquired by TPG for $373 million in 2010.

Now Cloudscene is gearing up for the next chapter in its evolution, and has announced outgoing Megaport chief commercial officer Belle Lajoie (pictured) will be its inaugural chief executive officer starting 1 May.

Lajoie has played an important role in the growth and commercial success of Megaport as well as NextDC.

"Cloudscene has experienced tremendous growth since its official launch in 2016, and I am honored and excited to have someone with Belle's deep industry knowledge and expertise leading the team to focus on taking Cloudscene to the next level," says Slattery.

The role of CEO has been created to drive the expansion of the product suite, accelerate user growth and engagement, and implement a series of commercial opportunities to better support industry needs.

"I'm excited to lead the Cloudscene team as I've always been extremely passionate about the vision of the company and have been an avid user and huge supporter of Cloudscene from day one," says Lajoie.

"The team has a vision to build a neutral and trusted exchange platform  for cloud and connectivity services. I'm thrilled to now lead the journey towards realising that vision."

Renée Harper, who is currently Cloudscene's interim general manager will also commence a new role as vice president of marketing and engagement.
