REDFLOW LINKS UP WITH REDBACK TECHNOLOGIES

REDFLOW (ASX:RFX) has joined forces with Redback Technologies to deliver a compatible energy storage system.

The Brisbane-based battery company launched its residential solution ZCell in March, which can 'timeshift' solar power from day to night and store off-peak power.

After extensive testing, the ZCell battery can integrate with Redback's Smart Hybrid Solar Inverter. The system manages energy supplies from the grid, photovoltaic solar panels and a battery.

Redflow executive chairman Simon Hackett (pictured) says the combination will give household and commercial users greater savings by self-consuming more of their on-site generated power.

"We are very pleased that two Australian leaders in the emerging energy storage sector now have their devices working together," Hackett says.

"For customers to enjoy the benefits of Redflow's innovative flow battery technology, it's really important for us to work alongside likeminded businesses such as Redback."

Redback's solution is hosted in Microsoft's Azure IoT Suite cloud platform, offering technology updates, consumption monitoring and remote control.

Redback Technologies founder and managing director Philip Livingston says the partnership will be beneficial as the energy storage sector develops.

"Australia is the perfect place from which to build a globally relevant energy storage sector based on local innovation," Livingston says.

"Redback Technologies is building the infrastructure for the next generation grid and partnering with Redflow provides choice to consumers and solar installers.

"We are going to put more money into homeowners' pockets and create cleaner energy for our children's future."

Redflow is installing exemplar ZCell systems and training installers to fit and maintain the flow batteries. Customer installations are expected to roll out in August.

The company will announce compatible inverters from other companies in coming weeks.
