Serial entrepreneur Selasi Berdie secures major distribution deal for Sprout Organic

Gold Coast-based Sprout Organic has partnered with two health food distributors in a deal that will see the plant-based foods range stocked by retailers in New South Wales and Western Australia.

Under the partnership, Global by Nature and Total Health will distribute the range to stockists including health food stores, independent supermarkets and pharmacies.

As two of the most active distributors in NSW and WA the distributors have brands represented in more than 1,000 retailers, giving companies like Sprout Organic a wide reach.

Founder Selasi Berdie (pictured right) said the new deal is a coup for the growing business, which launched its first commercial product, a range of snack bars for kids, in 2020.

A new plant-based toddler and infant formula product is planned for release in the second quarter of 2021.

"In these two distributors we have found partners that are incredibly passionate about our products," Berdie said.

"WA and NSW were identified as a key market for us, and we couldn't be happier with the fit we've found in these two companies.

"These are the first in a series of domestic and international distribution partnerships that we are working to establish as we continue to grow our business."

Global by Nature general manager Ryan Mclintock said the distributor was attracted to the innovation on display at Sprout Organic.

"At Global, we are always looking for innovative and delicious ways to surprise and excite our customers, and Sprout's healthy and tasty kids snack bars and genuine innovation in infant formula is exactly that," Mclintock said.

"Sprout is building a whole new form of inclusivity in the sector."

Sprout Organic is the latest enterprise from serial entrepreneur and former Gold Coast Titans player Selasi Berdie.

It sits under the umbrella of HYPE Group - a company founded by Berdie and business partner Miles Muecke.

Berdie has already seen considerable success in the food industry.efore founding Sprout his venture BSKT Wholefoods was founded in 2013 as a restaurant before becoming a global health food brand.

BSKT's range of chocolate, granola and protein bars are now stocked nationally at retailers including Nutrition Warehouse and Supplement Warehouse.

The entrepreneurs are also behind nutritional food delivery service Macro Kitchen, nutrition and supplement brand CMBT, performance facility CMBT Training Centre and Asian eatery Lucky Bao.
